Booktober with Room to Read

October is here and the Worldettes are standing behind Room to Read in their October campaign, BOOKTOBER. It’s a mission we’re proud to be involved with.

Room to Read is an impressive organization with a goal to educate 10 million children by the year 2015.  Lofty, you might say, but with our help this goal is attainable!

They have many facets to their organization, including the publishing of local language books, teacher education, the development of reading and writing curriculum and materials, construction of libraries and many, many more pieces to the puzzle.

We have decided to focus on bicycles.

Yes, bicycles!

You see, for some of the girls that are involved in the Room to Read program, getting to and from school is a massive hardship, and often they are walking home from school in the dark, which is dangerous.

We have set a goal to raise $250 during the month, to purchase five bicycles for five girls.  If you boil it down to the numbers, that’s much less than a $1 from each of our Worldettes. You can donate here. We can DO this.
