Girl About Town, Worldette’s sassy and no nonsense agony aunt, answers your travel concerns. But watch out! Ask a silly question and our girl, who knows how to travel in style, might bite…
Dear Girl About Town, I collect weird art when I travel and am quite impressed with my collection. Any suggestions on how to display it? I’m hoping to entice envy from my friends and colleagues.
First, get yourself down under. Way down under – to Hobart, Tasmania to be exact and check out MONA –the Museum of Old and New Art. This newly opened museum contains David Walsh’s favourite works; the ones that represent him and present him to the world for interest, outrage or indifference. There is a bar, café and cemetery on site.
You’re not going to enjoy the art on an empty stomach, so after you take the private ferry over (yes, you read that right), you can try a wine tasting at the source, or enjoy contemporary French cuisine using local produce. There is some weird stuff on display here, so get ready to learn. www.mona.net.au/visit Take notes, pictures or use the sleek iPhones they give you upon entrance and observe how a real private collection is offered to the masses.
