Writing, for most, is an immensely personal, and private thing. And no writing is more intimate than a diary, by which you put your daily thoughts, feelings and activities on paper. But if you could share these things anonymously, would you?
Bench Diary, created by Dessa Lohrey, is a project where she ties a diary to a bench seat somewhere for one day, allowing anyone who chances upon it to share their innermost thoughts. Or just what they did today. Or some poetry, jokes, song lyrics, random drawings, anything, really. They are then added to her tumblr and instagram pages showing the bench locations and extracts from this public (but private) diary.
And the best part? It’s entirely anonymous. You have no idea who wrote what came before you, and no one after you will know it was you who wrote the last entry. The only stipulation: you must add your age.
Share your innermost self with others, let your experiences contribute to other people’s days or have empathy for another stranger’s day. What would you write?
