Let’s face it, learning another language is hard. It requires daily practice, and making many, many mistakes, usually in front of native speakers. Yet, you keep telling yourself, I’m going to do it this time, I’ll start learning this language seriously.
But with work, and everything else that makes life messy, you’re tired. And just want a break; not verb conjugations and vocabulary lists.
So here’s a new phrase for you: holistic language retreats. Kickstart or reinvigorate your language learning while getting that much needed break.
Holistic language retreats offer daily language lessons and immersion in your chosen language, along with meditation, yoga classes, and activities such hiking, and cooking – often conducted in the language you’re learning, in a relaxed, supportive environment.
Take La Manzanilla Healing, Arts & Spanish Retreat, for example. Set in the beautiful coastal village of La Manzanilla in Mexico, this eight-day retreat consists of daily Spanish language lessons in a relaxed setting, followed by yoga, pilates or zumba classes, as well as spa treatments, or go hiking or snorkeling in the crystal waters.
Other options: in Biarratz, the south of France, you can take on two weeks of French and surfing; in the heart of Asturias, northern Spain, you could combine Spanish with yoga, hiking and painting; while in Tuscany, Italy, combine cooking (what else!) with your Italian studies.
Holistic language retreats are popping up all over the world giving you reason to quit the depressing local evening classes (you’re too busy anyway, girlfriend) and learn your language on location – doing the activities that inspire you. Perfecto mundo!
What language will you learn?
